…and you’re all, what Girlfriend story?
It’s a horror short I started last September, but it got put on the backburner when I started working on Gingersnap Cat. I was feeling a little fatigue on the Nosferatu Novel and thought I’d pick it up again. I can feel I’m nearing the end, so I’m really trying to put in my time on it. (It’d be great to have it out before Halloween!)
And now you know…the rest of the backstory. Good day!
PS If you’re looking for a nice uneasy read, you gotta read the original novella for THE BIRDS, it’s unnerving in a lovely way.
I’m writing this novel in islands…the ending’s finished, section two’s started, but I’ve halted on it so I can write ahead in section one…like building a bridge made of sly goblins and thirsty draculas. At least I left off on an exciting part of section two!
…and we’re still setting up for the main plot! DUHANG.
Quite a change from some of my past work, where at 20, 30K, I was like, “OK, it’s wrapping up! c:”
Just hit 30,000 words in A Gingersnap Cat Christmas. A few more scenes and it’ll be done! Time to start thinking about the cover! Middle-top might be the lucky winner, but we’ll see…
Whoo! My latest story, A Gingersnap Cat Christmas, just hit 10,000 words! Since I want it finished by Thanksgiving, I’ve been trying to write on it even on days when I’m Not Feeling It™. So far, it’s working! Even on my argleblargle days I’m managing between 700-1400 words an hour. Stay tuned to see if I manage this audacious goal!
OWL: The Online Writing Log
For any writers out there aspiring to track their wordcount, this is a new tool by a bloke I see on Mastodon. He’s been working hard on it, so for those of you who don’t want to use monster spreadsheets, this might be a good option for you!
The Writing Log Updated
I wrote about the writing tracker(s) I use in a previous post. But then I saw this and thought other writers might find it helpful! The basic spreadsheet is free!
I’m pleased! It’ll be nice to have a novella to sell! I *think* I’m heading towards the end, though I have no idea how it’s gonna come together. Guess that’s the exciting part!
Ugghghghg then I gotta do the cover ughghghghgh it’s not a ROMANCE romance or even a rom-com but it’s not a cozy mystery but it’s clean and fun like one… A magical comic love story, is what I call it.
I’ve got more to type on it, but I don’t feel like working on it this second.
I bought another Leuchtturm Master Ruled Notebook from Amazon (233 pages). But the seller sent me a Leuchtturm SLIM, which only has 120 pages! I can write 100 page in under a month.
So I just sent them a complaint. I’ve already written in it–but I wouldn’ta bought it if I’d known it was a SLIM.
Pretty annoyed, too, paying a full-size notebook price and only getting half the pages. Grr! (Guess that’s another way they could make it up to me–send me another SLIM for free.)
Currently typing up a false start (to get an accurate word count for the 28th), but then I’ll type the real ending. Then I should probably take a break and then type up some more SCVK edits.
